Did you know La Plagne was a host resort for the Winter Olympics of 1992? At La Roche – the first village you come to when climbing the mountain – a Bobsleigh Track
was constructed for the games and La PLagne was chosen as has the resort has a long history associated with the sport
(there is a natural track in the woods which you can descend on your skis). The track is still used for World Cup and National Events but a few years ago it was decided
to open it to the public so you – YES YOU – can descend the Olympic
Track this winter! |

Every winter we arrange trips down the Bobsleigh Track allowing you to enjoy a once in a lifetime thrill. The most popular descent is in the Bob raft (see picture opposite) when you and three others are placed
in a self steering bobsleigh which once given a big push finds its way down the track reaching speeds just above 80kms/hr.
This may not seem that fast but it is quite a physical ride and don’t forget you are sitting no more than 10cms above
the ice. If you would like to make a descent all you have to do is come to the bar, introduce yourselves and
we will make the reservation for you. All you need to do is return to the bar at the confirmed time ready for a once in a
lifetime thrill. The cost of a descent includes the following ; *A “nerve calmer” in the bar *A taxi transfer to the piste from the bar *One descent of the track (we are happy to take photos for you) *A Certificate of your descent *A return taxi to the bar or your accommodation The price for season 08/09 is T.B.C but you will
soon forget about the money but you will never forget the ride! |
